Manning Valley Cycle club conducted the second round of Graded Championshipd with B & E Grades racing for the Title. Forster rider, Paul Nixon was the victor, surviving a torrid & physical sprint. Paul has been in good form of late & held off a determined Russell Davis to Wear the B Grade Criterium Crown for 2010. Davis capped a somewhat impressive season, working his way from C Grade to B Grade with several podium finishes along the way. Nathan Loreton finished in third place. Pre race favorite, Justin Woolard put in his usual attack but failed to breakaway & could only manage a fourth place. Another rider defying the age barrier was Noel Mathiske, coming home in fifth place.
E Grade was battled out between Graeme Budden, Harold Greenhalgh, Stephen Nicholson & Jack Reneberg. With Budden riding strongly, the other riders tried to let him do most of the work. The wily Harold Greenhalgh followed his rear whell all race hoping for an opportunity to come by for the win. The sprint however went to Budden from Greenhalgh with Stephen Nicholson coming home in third. Jack Renneberg was fourth & Paula Cllaghan home in fifith.
A Grade was a normal round of the Bourkes Bicycles season pointscore & it was a win to Daniel Clinch with a breakaway move that was never headed. He "Clinched" the win with a big smile on his face as he held off a determined attempt by Troy Croker to cross the gap. Croker finished in second & Dan Aldridge led home the bunch sprint for third. Tai Piper was fourth & Lloyd Ninham fifth.
C Grade started at a furious pace & saw two riders dropped on the second lap. Troy Unicomb was testing the legs for next weeks Championship. Unicomb however did not win, but was beaten on the line by Kurt Sadler to record his first C Grade win. Stephen McInerney came home in third after attacking with two laps to go & spreading the field. Ian Budden finished fourth & David Cowley in fifth.
Darren Harvey won his second D Grade race in three weeks & is finding form at the right time. With the D Grade Championship this Wednesday, Harvey will ahve to be at his best to beat riders like Richard Parvin, the Alley Brothers & Oscar Watson-Sutherland. Watson-Sutherland was second & showed his form is good, although restricted gearing could hamper his speed. Wilf Alley finished third, Robert Alley fourth & Tyler Nicholson fifth.
The Clinch Family took the daily double with Bayden Clinch taking out the F Grade event.With 3 minutes & 45 seconds advantage he passed the limit rider & held on to take the points. Zane Dawson was second, Baxter Pattison third fom the scratch mark, Jordon Blick fourth & Marcus Worth fifth.
