17 Dec 2008
This weeks racing was at Kolodong and was the final race for the year. It was a perfect day for racing with the north east wind providing a chance for some to make strong attacks on the back straight.
The juniors had strong numbers and were all very keen to race. Adrian Green had a newly acquired road bike that he was testing out for the first time and looked fast a he rode around the circuit. All juniors are really improving as a result of their consistent racing and the support of their dedicated parents. Kobe Pattison used his handicap well to ride himself strongly into first place. The ever consistent Emma Sewell was second followed in third by Zane Dawson.
A grade saw the return from the United States by Tim Norris and Owen Belton. Belton and Norris looked comfortable in the peleton as they rode around the Kolodong circuit. Belton took Norris to the finish line in style while Norris was able to thank his team mate by clinching first. Aldridge took a great second place followed in third by the ever improving Micheal Cross.
B grade was taken out by Troy Croker who found himself in a two man break-away with the second place getter Anthoney Cross. The two worked well together to fight out line honours between themselves. Third across the line was John Corbett.
C grade saw a strong field line up for the start. Graheme McGechan came away with the win which must see him have a firm hold on the C-grade point score. Second across the line was an every improving Sean Saddler followed by Steve Richardson.
D grade was again dominated by the sly fox Harold Greenhalgh. His consistent first places will also see him sitting quite comfortable on the points ladder.Kurt Saddler picked up an impressive second place followed by the hard working Alister Currie.
I would like to thank Rob Alley and his wife for providing the results in an easy to read format. They have done a wonderful job.
I would also like to remind all riders about the importance of turning around on the back straight after finishing. The commisaire relegated a number of A graders including myself for this incident.
Racing will resume the 7th of January at Kolodong.
A reminder to all that there will be bunch rides from boxing day to new years eve starting at 7 am from the bridge. The ride will be the milk run and will finish at Raw Sugar. Some days will include the chance to win a breakfast for two, kindly donated by Rhonda and Stan the owners of Raw Sugar.
