This weeks racing took place at Oxley Bend which saw finally, some favorable conditions for racing. The Juniors were under way first racing three laps of the shortened senior course. This week the places went to some hard working riders first was Bayden Clinch followed by Adrian Green and Emma Sewell.

In the senior categories A and C grade rode first. The course provided the riders with some challenges due to the wind. However it made for some exciting racing with all riders working hard to stay in their respective bunches from the turn arounds.

A grade was packed full of surges and attacks out of the turn-around with strong rides from Dan Aldridge and Chris Nicholson who put the bunch into difficulty on more than a couple of occasions. In the last part of the race the surges had been taken out of the equation through fatigue. On the final turnaround Matt Worth pulled a big turn to line the bunch up for a fast sprint finish. Aldridge crossed the line first for his second consecutive win followed closely by Nicholson with Beau Harper rounding out the top three positions.

C Grade was a fast and hotly contested race. Most of the bunch appeared to stay together to defy the conditions of the day. The day’s victor was Karen Hosking which sees her take her second win of the season followed in second by Graeme McGeechan and third Mal Saad. It seems from viewing results over the past 3 weeks that C-grade criterium point score champion will be a tough one to pick.

B grade was a fast and aggressive race which saw, like A grade, some fast and powerful attacks out of the corners. There were even suggestions of some motorbike racing into the corners as well as some bike wrestling as riders jostled for position into turns. At the end of the race Dave Nixon took a strong and powerful first over Ian Budden and Greg Wamsley. Could Dave Nixon be on the way to A grade in the next few weeks?

D grade looked to be a war of attrition as three riders were left to battle it out to take the honour of first over the line. All riders worked well however it seemed that the turns and the wind may have been crucial factors in this war of attrition. At the finish Darren Mahoney marked the white line first followed by an improving Sean Saddler and a consistent and strong Harold Greenhalgh.

Next weeks racing returns to Kolodong with juniors racing at 5:45pm and Seniors at 6:00pm. A reminder to all about litter, if you have a can of drink or a bag of lollies could please place the rubbish in you car or close to the drink esky. It is not appropriate to litter at any time especially at a place where we race. It looks terrible after everyone has left and may impact the club.

This Sunday is the milk run from the bridge at 7:00am. Rhonda and Stan from RAW SUGAR CAFÉ are donating a voucher for 2 meals and 2 coffees each Sunday. Riders who are on the ride and turn-up for a coffee at Raw Sugar will have their name put in a hat for the chance to win a Breaky for two. So come along for a great ride, a fun social event and the chance to win a delicious Breaky for two
