Wednesday night finally saw the Junior, B-grade and D-grade championships. The rain was still looming as riders took to the Kolodong circuit, but it stayed away long enough for the finish of all championship races.

The juniors, for the championship, started as a single group (graded scratch) for the honours of junior crit champion of 2009. As always it was going to be dominated by the older riders. Coming around the first lap it was Ben Cross and Tom Steedman who had a slight lead on Lachlan Cross. The younger juniors put up a fierce fight as the raced the three laps, with Ben Cross breaking free and Lachlan joining Tom in an effort to catch Ben . Coming around the hill to take the win was Ben Cross. Ben was able to break from Lachlan in the last lap to finish ahead by mere meters. Bringing in third was Tom Steedman who rode a solid race.

B grade took off at a good pace, most of the work early on looked to be done by Anthony Cross and Daniel Crossingham. There were some good attacks through the race as John Corbett looked a chance as he came around the start line. However this was put to rest early as Crossingham and Cross were quick to pull the solo man back. As the bunch lined up for the sprint it was hard to tell who would take the victory. Justin Shearer took the lead to the line but was chased ferociously by Dave Nixon. Over the line was Shearer in first place followed by Dave Nixon and the work horse of the bunch Anthony Cross.

D grade was next away. Kurt Sadler made a big break early on and looked as though he would go close to going all the way. However the bunch seemed to organise a chase which was led by John Hawkins. Eventually the bunch was able to reel in Sadler with not too long to go before the finish. Coming over the line in first was a strong finishing David Cowley followed in by Kelle Nicholson and Kurt Sadler.

A and C grades were called off due to rain. This concludes the 08/09 criterium season for the club. There will be graded scratch racing at Central Lansdowne on Saturday at 3pm.
